Northborough/Southborough – After serving in many roles throughout her 32 years in public education, Christine Johnson, the superintendent for the Combined Northborough Southborough School Departments, will be retiring at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

Johnson graduated at the age of 30, with honors, from Bridgewater State University. She then went on to earn her master’s degree from Framingham State University and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Northeastern University.

She first was a teacher in the Mendon-Upton Regional Schools before accepting a position at Algonquin Regional High School where she started the school’s DECA program, became chair of the Department of Applied Arts and Technology and eventually assistant principal. After stints as principal at Northbridge High School and finance director of public schools in Leicester, she returned to the Northborough-Southborough district, first as assistant school superintendent and then in 2012 was named superintendent.
