Shrewsbury – The “Let Your Spirit Sacrifice” fundraiser Sept. 27 kicked off the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival weekend. Some $11,000 was raised for the Shrewsbury Fire and Police Relief Association to assist police and firefighters’ families with funeral and memorial expenses.

Host Committee Chair State Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) welcomed guests including State Sen. Michael Moore (D-Millbury) for the informal social held at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury. Selectman Beth Casavant thanked Chief Joseph (Robert J. Terkanian) who, along with the Hannah Kane Charitable Foundation, were the presenting sponsors.

“When I found out the Hannah was trying to do this for us I thought…this is phenomenal. It’s great for the families,” remarked Association Treasurer Dave Hodgerney.
