Marlborough – Paul H. Connor Jr., 85, a retired Marlborough Police Officer, and U.S. Navy veteran, died Oct. 3, 2018 at Marlborough Hospital. He was the husband of Elaine (DesRochers) Connor for the past 27 years.
He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Paul H. Connor Sr. and Marguerite Kennedy, and was a 1950 graduate of Marlborough Vocational High School. He went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He attended the Massachusetts State Police Academy, received a degree in criminal justice from Quinsigamond Community College and attended several Command Training courses at Babson College in Wellesley. He began his career with the Marlborough Police Department in 1957 as a Reserve Officer. He rose through the ranks and retired in 1987 as Lieutenant.
Paul was an avid golfer and hunter. He had two holes in one in Florida to his credit. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Command Officers Association, past member of the A.O.H. and Eagles, Marlborough VFW and Elks of Hudson. He was a holder of the police Medal of Valor for saving several people at a multiple alarm fire at the corner of Lincoln and Mechanic streets.
He leaves four sons, Paul W. Connor of Grand Junction, Colo., Daniel J. Connor of Lunenburg, Thomas J. Connor of Hudson, and James F. Connor of Sterling; a daughter Theresa MacKinnon of Hubbardston; a step-daughter, Kristianne Rivers of Wakefield; a sister, Marguerite Truex of Plymouth; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Carl Connor of Marlborough and Robert Connor of Hudson.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5-6:30 p.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery.
