Deolinda S. LeonardoHudson – Deolinda S. (Sousa) Leonardo, 73, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home Oct. 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind the love of her life, her beloved husband of 53 years, Francisco M. Leonardo.

Deolinda was born July 27, 1945, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Bernardino and Maria (Resendes) Sousa. She immigrated to Hudson and shortly after embarked on a 53-year marriage of love and devotion. Deolinda received her associate degree in business administration from Quinsigamond Community College and had a long and successful career at Data General in quality assurance, before she eventually retired.

Deolinda was a loving grandmother who wholeheartedly focused her time and energy on caring for and raising her family. She truly exemplified selflessness and had an innate nurturing ability, even when it came to caring for her flower garden. Deolinda was an avid reader and enjoyed vacationing in her hometown of Santa Maria, Azores, where she traveled every summer. She also loved spending time and going shopping with her many close friends, locally in town. Deolinda will truly be missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her beloved husband, Francisco M. Leonardo, she is survived by her three children, Mark S. Leonardo and his wife Jennifer of Weston, Paul S. Leonardo and his wife Carla of Hudson, and Amy L. Nicolosi and her husband Sean of Hudson; her siblings, Angelo Sousa, Maria Chaves and Maria Ines Cabral; 8 grandchildren, Luke Leonardo, Mark Leonardo, Samuel Leonardo, Sonya Leonardo, Jacob Leonardo, Emma Leonardo, Maia Nicolosi, and Colin Nicolosi; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Antonio Sousa, Joao Sousa, Jose Sousa, and Adelaide Luz.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4-7 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m., at Saint Michael’s Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, followed by interment at Saint Michael Cemetery.
