Grafton – Tom Rush, the iconic American folk singer-songwriter, performed in front of a sold out audience Oct. 5 in the Great Hall at One Grafton Common.

Accompanying Rush on piano and guitar was singer-songwriter Matt Nakoa, a Berklee College of Music graduate who regularly plays in Manhattan and is a frequent collaborator with Rush.

From classics like “Urge for Going,” to “Voice,” the title track of his most recent recording, Rush entertained with his voice, guitar and stories.

Rush noted his thanks to ATA for the opportunity to perform in the Great Hall, adding that, “It’s been a beautiful evening for me.”

The concert was the debut of the Grafton Performing Art Series, signature concerts that are to be presented at ATA’s beautifully-renovated performance arts center, the Great Hall. Three Claflin Hill-Apple Tree Arts chamber music concerts and additional musical performances are planned for the 2018-2019 concert season.

Founded in 1989, Apple Tree Arts a community school of the arts and a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization has grown to serve over 1,500 children and adults annually with early childhood music classes, group keyboard lessons, private music and voice instruction, ensembles, theatre arts programs, community events and concerts.  For more information, visit www.appletreearts.org.
