Friends of Shrewsbury Library Annual Meeting to feature spooky presentation

Shrewsbury – The Friends of the Shrewsbury Library will hold its Annual Meeting and program Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the library’s Community Meeting Room, 609 Main St. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a brief business meeting, election of board officers, and other business matters of the Friends Organization. The program, “Specter Brides and Headless Horsemen,” will begin at 7 p.m.

Barry Deitz will present a literary journey that will take participants through some of the great ghostly tales of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Washington Irving and other authors. He will also present information on some of the haunted places around Massachusetts

Deitz, of Bernardston, Massachusetts, was born in North Carolina. He has degrees in English and history and has a theatre and television background. He has been a morning news anchor for Cleveland Headline News and hosted a weekly movie review show called “Meet Me at the Movies” on local cable. He conducts literary and historical programs for area libraries and arts councils.

The performance is suitable for teens and adults and is open to all. Friends’ membership is not required and no preregistration is needed.
