Grafton – The Grafton Historical Society and the Grafton Public Library will co-sponsor a performance by literary historian Rob Velella Sunday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. Velella’s performance at the Grafton Community Barn, 37 Wheeler Road, North Grafton, will portray Edgar Allen Poe in an interactive presentation. Velella has studied the complicated writer/editor/critic/genius for more than 15 years and has done presentations throughout New England and beyond. In addition to reading from both his trademark and lesser-known works, Velella will explain the process of writing and the meaning behind these tales. Refreshments will be served. Entrance fee is $10.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, from 6-9 p.m., the Historical Society will host a Steampunk and Victorian Era Presentation and Costume Party at the South Grafton Community House, 25 Main St. The mix of a Victorian past and a sci-fi future will take over Grafton as the Historical Society steps out of the past to bring you an evening of fun events featuring the Citizens of Anitford. This group is a Steampunk collective of amateur cosplayers, artists and authors. After a presentation on the historical and cultural aspects of Steampunk, there will be Steampunk-inspired music playing as refreshments are served. Steampunk merchandise will be on sale – cash/check only. Come dressed in your favorite Steampunk or Victorian attire! This event is free.
