To the Editor:

My father, Ronald Chesterfield Fiske, passed away on September 26, 2018. My Dad had served on the Northborough call Fire Department from 1955-1977 retiring as Deputy Fire Chief of seven years. He was also a business owner in Northborough for 68 years and resided in Northborough his whole life (83 years). Therefore, the Fiske name is not foreign to this community.

My Dad took me aside six months ago and said “I would like my funeral to be a fire fighters funeral, all you will have to do is contact Paul Desautels, he’ll take it from there”.

Along with my father’s grandson Colby Fiske (who was raised in Northborough) and Colby’s Uncle Dan Brillhart (NFD) Paul D proceeded to orchestrate an amazing tribute to our father. From the wake through the burial of my Dad, the town of Northborough’s Fire Department honored him in a way that took our breath away. My family was in awe of what transpired those two days. Now you have to remember my Dad served over 40 years ago therefore few of the present fire fighters served with him. But the current first responders still dressed in their formal attire and took the time to honor a brother.

I’m writing this on behalf of the entire Fiske family. We cannot thank the NFD enough for the most amazing send off of this very humble man. We want the entire town of Northborough to know what an amazing group of dedicated and honorable people serve their town. We thank you all.

Sincerely,

Diane Fiske Hunt
