Marlborough – The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) recently elected Andrea Pion as its new executive chair.
Pion, who is the vice president of National Client Programs at Marlborough-based The DAVIS Companies, was elected unanimously by the MEDC Executive Committee and will take over the post effective immediately. She has served on the MEDC board since 2016 and has been an Executive Committee member and a Marketing Subcommittee member for the past year.
“I am extremely honored to have been elected to this important position,” said Pion. “I think MEDC is an incredible asset to the city, and it has contributed greatly to Marlborough’s economic growth over the past few years. I have taken a very active role in MEDC’s activities since I joined the Board of Directors, and I look forward to continuing to be involved even more in its day-to-day operations.”
Pion will be taking the reins from Richard Tomanek, general manager of Embassy Suites – Marlborough, who has served as MEDC’s executive chair since 2014.
“To have been part of this fledgling organization that has grown to become such a significant part of our city has been amazing and a wonder to have been able participate in the successes,” said Tomanek. “To have been able to work so hard with everyone to see this organization become so well respected by the people of our city, the City Council and the envy of so many cities and towns across the commonwealth is also something that we all should take note of. Such a measure of such great success that should never be taken for granted, I certainly know that we have not.”
Tomanek will remain an active member of MEDC and will continue to serve on both the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
