Shrewsbury – Mary H. (O’Neil) Sweet, 73, of Shrewsbury, died Oct. 26, 2018 at UMass Memorial-University Hospital, Worcester. She was the wife of 35 years to the late Silas B. Sweet, who died in 2001.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Beatrice J. (Carmell) Sanders O’Neil.
Mary was educated in the Worcester School Department and later graduated from the New England School of Accounting. She worked for 31 years at Greenberg, Rosenblatt, Kull & Bitsoli, P.C. in Worcester.
She is survived by her brother, James Sanders and his wife Barbara; her niece and god-daughter, Cheryl Morrison and her husband Patrick and their daughter Meg, all of Holden; three nephews, Richard, Michael and James Sanders III; and four step-sons and their families. She also leaves her good friends, Ellie and Bill Chipps, as well as several good friends and co-workers.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of ICU-6 at UMass Memorial – University Hospital for the loving care they provided Mary.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 10-11 a.m., at the Chiampa Funeral Home 〜 The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, on the Common, Shrewsbury Center, followed by her funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
Expressions of sympathy in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
