Northborough – A roast beef luncheon was served to a full room of invited guests, veterans and spouses, during a program of inspiration, information and music, at the ninth annual Veterans Day luncheon held Nov. 9 at the Northborough Senior Center.

The program began with the Posting of Colors by the Vincent F. Picard Post 234, American Legion followed by welcoming remarks by Kelly Burke, Senior Center Director.

“It’s just a wonderful event and it’s always great to see all the veterans come out and get the appreciation that they deserve. I have so much respect for the sacrifices that they’ve made for the country,” said Northborough Selectman Tim Kaelin who addressed the audience.

The Air Force JROTC from Burncoat High School in Worcester provided a powerful POW/MIA remembrance followed by an invocation by Joe McCaffrey, Chaplain from the Vincent F. Picard Post 234.

Other speakers included Northborough Veterans Agent Justin Sousa, and Carol Callaghan, National Service Officer at Veterans Northeast Outreach Center, MetroWest office.

Callaghan’s presentation was informational as she shared resources available to veterans through her office, whose mission is to provide the highest quality of services to assist, support and advocate for all veterans and their families.

“I think it’s a wonderful turn-out and I look forward to coming back. I have to give credit to the ROTC who did a fantastic job,” said Callaghan.

The luncheon concluded with military anthems of all service branches and a medley by the Algonquin Regional High School Choir.
