Members sought for Shrewsbury’s ZBA and Cultural CouncilShrewsbury – The Board of Selectmen is seeking a qualified individual interested in serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals as a member.

The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of five members appointed for two year terms and four  associate members appointed annually and is responsible to hear appeals brought by residents pursuant  to Chapter 40A of the General Laws and the Zoning By-Law of the Town of Shrewsbury.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets monthly throughout the year on an as needed basis depending on the case load.

Interested persons must be registered voters of the Town and are asked to submit a letter of interest via mail or email with qualifications to the Board of Selectmen by mail at 100 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA or by email to [email protected] , no later 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

Note – This vacancy is contingent upon approval from the Attorney General’s Office relative to the decision on Article 9 at the October 22, 2018 Special Town Meeting.

The selectmen are also seeking several interested persons to serve on the Shrewsbury Cultural Council pursuant to General Law – Part I, Title II, Chapter 10, Section 58.

The Shrewsbury Cultural Council receives funds from the Massachusetts Cultural Council which allots a specific percentage annually to each local cultural council throughout the Commonwealth through funding generated by the State Lottery Commission. The Shrewsbury Cultural Council then in turn makes local grants for eligible activities and programs.

Cultural Council members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for three year terms and may serve up to two consecutive terms.
