Scrubs with Style in Northborough outfits nurses in fun and flattering apparel

Northborough – Nurses spend many hours on their feet caring for patients, but that doesn’t mean they can’t look stylish while doing it. Scrubs don’t have to look like pajamas, although they may be just as comfortable.

Jackie Taylor, owner of Scrubs with Style in Northborough, chose the name of her business to emphasize that scrubs and footwear can be both functional and fashionable.

“There are so many styles to choose from now,” Taylor said, noting that the shop has the largest in-store selection of scrubs in Central Mass., including all major brands, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Koi, Cherokee, Klogs, Vionic, Disney, and the newest addition, Vera Bradley.

Today’s scrubs come in fabrics that are comfortable, breathable and easy to care for. A selection of the store’s apparel comes in “crossover” styles that can be worn as active or everyday wear, such as the popular yoga and jogger style pants, vests, outerwear, athletic shoes and Klogs that any woman can wear as a regular shoe. Some of her local clientele are not in the medical industry at all.

Scrubs with Style also offers a full line of accessories, lab coats, footwear, socks, men’s wear, Littman stethoscopes, maternity scrubs and kids’ “playwear” scrubs. The store carries a wide selection of solid scrubs for facilities or schools that have to wear a certain color, as well as many fun, attractive prints for those who are able to wear styles of their choice. Styles and colors change seasonally.

Scrubs with Style opened in 2017 in Northborough Shopping Center on West Main Street. Taylor had previously owned a store selling medical apparel in Worcester for many years. After selling her store to a national chain several years ago, she decided she “wanted to get back into it” and saw a need elsewhere.

“There are three or four stores in the Worcester area,” she said. “I wanted to focus on the market from Worcester to Metrowest.” The store is easy to reach from all directions with plenty of parking.

A resident of Northborough, Taylor found a great location, set up shop and began outfitting nurses in central Mass. hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and dental offices, nursing schools, veterinary offices and more. She also takes her wares on the road, setting up “pop-up stores” at work place locations, making it convenient for the customer to shop while at work.

“There is so much online shopping now,” Taylor said. “We are geared toward customized personal service. That one-on-one attention is something customers really appreciate.”

She also stressed the importance of trying things on. Many of Taylor’s customers have told her that they like to see, touch and feel the product.

“Each brand and style fit differently,” she noted.

Scrubs with Style carries a wide variety of petite and tall sizes for men and women.

“We have recently had a lot more male clientele, so I will be expanding the men’s line,” Taylor said.

She added that the store has been “getting a lot of mothers shopping for their daughters and, while there, tend to find a pair of pants of shoes for themselves.”

Scrubs with Style is gearing up for the holidays with a host of gifts for the nurse in your life. Holiday prints, gift packages, stocking stuffers and gift certificates are available, as well as custom embroidery.
