Shrewsbury – The spirit of the season was evident on Dec. 1 in downtown Shrewsbury when Santa Claus made an appearance outside of the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road. The weather was beautiful but seasonably chilly. Provisions were made for a fire and warm refreshments to keep guests toasty.

“We’ve been doing this event for eight years now and this year we have the Shrewsbury High School a cappella Choir and we have Rudolph and Santa Claus as well as a group of musicians, also from the high school,” owner David Chiampa said. It’s a community affair.”

After a lift courtesy of the Shrewsbury Police Department paddy wagon, Santa met with the young children waiting for him, as well as those young at heart.
