Shrewsbury – Santa Claus rolled into town on Dec.8 and dropped by the Shrewsbury Police Headquarters, located at 106 Maple Ave., to help members of the NEPBA Local 191 with their “Fill the Wagon” Toy Drive for local families in need.

Although it was a beautiful but very chilly morning (Santa must have brought the cold from the North Pole with him) but that didn’t prevent the many generous people from stopping  by with donations of toys, games, gift cards, winter jackets and several brand new bicycles to “Fill the Wagon” – which was filled to the brim.

The toy drive began four years ago by current Patrol Officer’s Union president, David Faucher.

Evelyn Jenkins, who is a volunteer with St. Anne’s Human Services and one of their Giving Tree coordinators, was on hand to help with event and she said that the Shrewsbury Police were just terrific to be holding this event.

According to Jenkins, these toys will go to local children in need and will be used to supplement their Giving Tree which takes place the weekend of Dec. 15 and 16.
