John PollingerWakefield/Grafton – John Pollinger, 72, passed away Dec. 16, 2018 after succumbing to complications from cancer.

He is survived by his daughter, Audra Gargano and her husband James and their children Dillon and Faith Gargano; his siblings, and Mary Pollinger, W. Dennis Pollinger, Suzanne Pollinger, Paul Pollinger and his wife Debra and Joseph Pollinger and his wife Linda. John was born Sept. 21, 1946 in Worcester, son of the late Mary (Hill) and Walter Pollinger. His roots were in Grafton where he graduated from high school and was an exceptional athlete, lettering in three sports. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and upon his return home played baseball in the New York Yankees minor league system and was contacted by the San Diego Padres for a tryout with their club.

He met his former wife, Mary Ann at a Navy dance in Chelsea, and they settled in Stoneham where they lived for many years.

John worked at the head office at Thom McCann as a Shipping Manager for many years as well.

Away from work he had a gifted singing voice and a love of family that kept him close to home. Becoming a grandfather became an enduring source of joy for John, and to his grandchildren Dillon and Faith that he so adored.

Please honor John in lieu of traditional remembrances with a donation to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
