Shrewsbury – Nicholas “Nick” Spiro, 82, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Dec. 17, 2018 in UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Nick leaves his loving wife, Eva (Alex) Spiro, and his daughter, Deborah Spiro, both of Shrewsbury; his sister, Virginia Schutte of Pennsylvania; and his sister-in-law he considered as a sister, Helen Demetri of North Reading. He was predeceased by his parents, Cleo and Lavrendia (Xhixho) Spiro.
Nick served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was a graduate of Northeastern University and Helena College in Brookline. He served three years in the Seminary for the Syrian and Russian Archdiocese.
He was employed by Fenwal Electronics as an advertising manager for many years.
His greatest passion was cooking for his family. He enjoyed many hours spent in his kitchen. Nick also enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe on many wonderful vacations. He was an avid local sports fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 4-7 p.m., at the Chiampa Funeral Home ~ The Sumner house, on the common, 5 Church Road Shrewsbury. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St., Worcester.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nick’s name to St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church.
