Apple Tree Arts to offer Early Childhood Music Drop-in Week

Grafton – Parents and caregivers are invited to bring children to a free music class offered by Apple Tree Arts’ Musikgarten Mingle during the first week of January at One Grafton Common. The free classes include: Mixed Age Move & Groove (ages one to four); Cycle of Seasons (ages three to four); and Music Makers (ages four to six). Light refreshments will be served after class.

The $35 registration fee will be waived for any attendees who sign up for a winter semester class. Registration is ongoing for all early childhood music classes at http://www.appletreearts.org/programs-classes/early-childhood.

Drop-in week class times are Wednesday, Jan. 2, 10:15-11 a.m. and Saturday, Jan. 5, 11- 11:45 a.m. for Mixed Age Move and Groove and Wednesday, Jan. 2, 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 4, 10:15-11 a.m. for Cycle of Seasons. Parents join their children for these 45-minute classes.

Music Makers drop-in week class time is Friday, Jan. 4, 4-5 p.m. Parents and caregivers will join the children for the last 15 minutes of class time. In this program, students explore different natural areas such as the meadow, woodlands and marsh and different cultures. Each unit is studied through song, listening to and acting out stories, folk dance, playing percussion instruments and doing ensemble work.

Apple Tree Arts uses the internationally recognized Musikgarten curriculum to develop musicians who find joy in music and learning to improvise, writing and reading music and eventually learning to play the piano.

Founded in 1989, Apple Tree Arts is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that has grown to serve over 1,500 children and adults annually with early childhood music classes, group keyboard lessons, private music and voice instruction, ensembles and theatre arts programs.
