Leo Lavin Jr.Sutton – Leo Michael Lavin, Jr., 64, passed away Dec. 18, 2018 in the loving embrace of his family.

He leaves his wife of 31 years, Mary (Sheridan) Lavin; his father, Leo M. Lavin Sr.; his children, Ken Henneberry, Maura Bettez and Kristen Lavin; grandchildren Liam and Owen Henneberry; and his sisters, Beth DePasquale and Jean Ferreira.

Leo was born Sept. 11, 1954 in Worcester, son of the late Marie Paule (Girard) and Leo M. Lavin Sr. His roots were in Grafton, he graduated from Grafton High School in 1972. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and received the National Defense Service Medal.

Leo earned his Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Computer Science, from Central New England College and went on to earn Master’s degrees from Worcester State College in Information Technology and Education.

His lengthy career in computer science began at Digital Equipment Corporation in 1984 and his path took him to work at EMC Corporation, Oracle and most recently the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Away from work his family was always at his center, he was always up for a trip to the movies and at home you could often hear The Beatles music playing.

All are welcome to gather with Leo’s family Friday, Dec. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton. All attending the funeral Mass are politely requested to go directly to church. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.
