Shrewsbury- The evening was crisp and seasonably chilly on Dec. 23 in Shrewsbury when several hundred people gathered together on the town Common to celebrate the Christmas season with carols and hot chocolate.

Presented by the First Congregational Church’s Arts on the Green program, the community event also featured the Worcester Brass Consort as directed by Douglas Weeks.  It was sponsored by Chiampa Funeral Home, Scizzors Hair Salon and Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union.

“This traditional event has been enjoyed for almost 20 years. This evening, along with other concerts organized throughout the year, is a gift of the church to the community at large,” noted Ann Cairns, event organizer.

New this year were luminaries placed along the walkways of the common, courtesy of the newly formed Shrewsbury Town Center Association which was formed to improve, enhance and foster economic and cultural development.
