Avidia Bank customers donate to local charities for the holidaysAvidia’s customers donated their points to local charities during the bank’s 12 Days of Avidia promotion.

Hudson – Since 2012, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become known as “Giving Tuesday”. This past year, on Nov. 27, Avidia customers joined the bank in giving back to the local community by donating a portion of their rewards points to a local charity. Customers were able to send their donations to one of four charities that Avidia partnered with for the initiative.

A total of $1214.66 was fundraised through the points donation drive and the dollar for dollar donation match from Avidia.  The four charities that received donations were: Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury; Southern Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) based in Framingham; Big Brother Big Sister of Central Mass/MetroWest; and BayPath Elder Services based in Marlborough.

“This was a great way for our customers to join us in giving back to our community while helping to create awareness about these organizations,” said Margaret Sullivan, Avidia Bank Chief Financial Officer.

In addition to the points donation drive, Avidia also hosted toy and food drives in many of their branches to support families in need during the holidays.

Avidia anticipates running this promotion again this year on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.
