Joseph E. SutherlandMarlborough – Joseph E. “Joe” Sutherland, 72, died Jan. 19, 2019 after a long period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 38 years of Theresa C. “Terry” (MacKinnon) Sutherland of Marlborough.

Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Getty) Sutherland and lived in Marlborough for 10 years after moving here from Waltham.

Joe was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and went on to work for 33 years as an operations manager for the Pepsi Cola Corp. retiring in 2012. After his retirement he worked as a driver for the Organic Mulch and Landscape Supply in Hudson until a year ago.

Joe was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Woburn Country Club. He was also a member of the Winchester Elks Lodge for many years.

He was also the loving father and grandfather of James “Jimmy” Poirier and his wife Tara of Marlborough and their two children, Brendan and Madison. He is also survived by two daughters, Hope and Nancy. He was predeceased by a son, Brian Sutherland; two brothers, John and James; a step-brother George; and two step-sisters, Paula and Nancy.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, from 5-8 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
