Marlborough The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) has announced the appointment of Hudson resident Robert Schlacter as its new CEO and president. Schlacter was selected for the highly-sought position from over 100-plus applicants from a range of backgrounds. He fills the position vacated by Susanne Morreale Leeber with her retirement on Sept. 1, 2018.

Schlacter brings 30 years of experience as a senior executive in sales, marketing, operations and business development. He was most recently employed with Transition Solutions Inc. as vice president of business development and executive consultant after a 15 year career at Staples, Inc. in Framingham, where he served in leadership roles in the North American Retail and Business Advantage-Contract divisions.

“Rob is a dynamic leader with the vision, energy and diverse skills we need to lead the future of the Chamber,” said Michael Rodrigues, incoming chair nominee of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “We expect Rob to implement positive and creative changes that will boost the Chamber’s value to the regional business community and are harmonious with the region’s new vibrancy and recent growth.”

“It’s an honor to be selected for the leadership role of the MRCC going into its 95th year,” said Schlacter. “The explosive economic development and revitalization efforts of the region as well as proposed future growth plans make this a very exciting opportunity. I’m looking forward to doing a lot of listening with our membership in order to maximize the value the Chamber brings to regional businesses, local government and the community we serve.”

Schlacter will lead the Chamber in executing the following goals for 2019:

  • Working closely with Mayor Arthur Vigeant, the City Council and the Marlborough Economic Development Council to attract even more business and make the region the premiere location to do business.
  • Improving the value provided to our business community by making it easier to do business, make connections, attract talent and grow.
  • Connecting more closely with the region’s diverse ethnic communities to tap a thriving group of businesses that can benefit from the Chamber as well as help move the region forward.
  • Enhancing the Chamber member experience by offering a more exciting, gratifying and fun variety of networking opportunities and community events.

Schlacter started work in his new role on Jan. 7 at the MRCC’s 11 Florence St. office.  He can be reached at [email protected].
