Charles R. WilkinsonHudson – Charles “Charlie” “Bob” R. Wilkinson, 77, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Jan. 24, 2019, at Marlborough Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Charlie was born Sept. 21, 1941 in Marlborough, a son of the late Charles I. and Beatrice M. (Brown) Wilkinson. He was raised in Hudson, where he also graduated from high school and resided most of his life. Shortly after finishing school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his Nation From 1960 until 1962 on active deployment, then four years as a Navy Reservist.

Charlie was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan, but his passion for baseball started after going to a Boston Braves game with his father as a child. In his spare time, he collected coins and old record albums. He was also a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking.

Charlie is survived by five children, Corinne M. Karanja of West Boylston, Charlene E. Downey and her spouse Kerry of Marlborough, Denise M. Woods and her spouse James of Clinton, Rhonda A. Duncan and her spouse Brian of Westborough, and Patrick M. Wilkinson and his spouse Jennifer of Gates, N.C.; four siblings Joan M. Wilkinson, Sally A. Wilkinson, David P. Wilkinson and his spouse Susan, and Marcia J. Cairns of West Boylston; eight grandchildren, Joe, Jordin, K.J., Jean, Jennifer, Pete, Brandon, and Katie; and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and many cousins.  He was also predeceased by his sister, Joyce A. Wilkinson, and his brother-in-law, Edward M. Cairns.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, immediately followed by a celebration of his life at 12 p.m. in the funeral home and a procession to Forestvale Cemetery for interment.
