Shrewsbury – It was all about the shenanigans and hijinks at the Shrewsbury Public Library on Feb. 22 when the first “Stuffed Animal Sleep-over” was held. Fifteen stuffed animals were dropped off that afternoon and then picked up the next morning.

After the kids arrived back at the library Saturday morning, they enjoyed a light breakfast as they watched a video of all the antics that took place with their animals overnight.

“A lot of libraries have done it in the past and it’s just a great program that brings magic and whimsy to the library,” explained Sonja Drotar, head of the children’s department.

Drotar also said that the stuffed animals were photographed while they were reading stories, playing with bubbles and having some hot cocoa.

However, they also “caught” the animals getting into mischief with the vending machines and climbing on plants and furniture.  It was all in good fun, though.

“It was our first time but we are definitely going to do it again,” Drotar noted. “It’s an adorable program.”
