Tampa, Fla. – John P. Hawes Jr., 59, of Tampa, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away in his home Feb. 19, 2019. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of Margaret and John Patrick Hawes Sr.
John is survived by his partner, Liliana; his children, John Henry and Amanda; his mother, Margaret; his sister, Lynn; and many other close family members. He was predeceased by his father, John Sr.
John’s greatest accomplishment was raising his two children and he will be remembered best for his kindness and his dedication to God.
He was a faithful member of Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla., where he attended services and was a member of the Men’s Ministry.
John attended the University of Rhode Island where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy. He was a valued member of the pharmaceutical community and he was certified to practice in more than 10 states. He owned and operated JPH Pharmacy Licensing LLC where he acted as a consultant.
He was avid sports fan and though he lived in Florida, his alliance was with the Red Sox and the Patriots. Two weeks prior to his death, he attended the Super Bowl for the first time with his son, John Henry.
John touched many lives with his joyful and friendly demeanor.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery of Worcester.
