Northborough – Members of the soon-to-be built Town Common are organizing a Buy-A-Brick fundraiser from now through Friday, May 31.
For $100, interested parties may purchase a brick which will be incorporated in the Town Common design by engineering firm Weston & Sampson. The bricks are 4” x 8” and are made of clay.
Committee member Amy Poretsky, said that they will have a table set up at the upcoming Northborough Rotary Club’s 48th Annual Scholarship Pancake Breakfast to be held on Sunday, March 24, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Marguerite E. Peaslee Elementary School, 31 Maple St.
The request for bids for the Town Common construction has gone out which are due by the end of March. Construction is slated to begin in May and be substantially completed by mid-October.
“The committee felt that a brick fundraiser was a nice way for all residents to have a part of the park. It will hopefully develop a sense of community for those that would like to create a permanent mark in commemoration of this special town wide project. All money raised will go back to the Town Common for smaller enhancements that may be needed in the future,” stated Carolyn Harrington, Town Common Committee member and fundraiser organizer.
