Shrewsbury – “Childhood starts at Creative Playthings.” So states the sign in front of Swings N Things in Shrewsbury. Family owned since 1987 by Shrewsbury residents Carl Abbascia and his son Colby, they look forward to welcoming you to explore their display of swings, playsets, trampolines and outdoor skating rinks.
“Creative Playthings has been making swing sets since 1951 and all products are manufactured in the U.S.,” noted Carl. “We are an authorized dealer for Creative Playthings.”
They are now exclusively a Creative Playthings distributor. They have consolidated operations in Shrewsbury having recently closed their Northborough location.
Creative Playthings’ product lines are available at three price points with standard and optional accessories. They are built to last. All swing sets are factory finished with Sherwin Williams rich brown premium exterior stain and are made from American southern yellow pine.
Their Premium Special Pine product comes with a lifetime warranty. There are 70 pre-designed packages to choose from that are completely modular allowing for flexibility and creativity. All come equipped with monkey bars, rock walls and picnic tables.
The Classic Pine and Playtime lines are designed to fit the different shapes and sizes of today’s families. Both offer scaled down footprints but still accommodate the popular accessories so customers won’t need to sacrifice fun. The Classic Pine has a 15-year warranty and the Playtime line comes with a 10-year warranty.
Delivery is free on purchases made within 20 miles of any Creative Playthings store in Massachusetts. Installations begin at $99.

Winter may be over, but they have cold weather outdoor fun covered. Swings N Things carries one of the best brands of outdoor ice rinks on the market. NiceRink Rink-In-A-Box comes with all one needs to build their own outdoor, 20′ x 40′ rink. Prices start at $599. Replacement rink liners are also available.
