Marlborough – With winter (hopefully) behind us, it’s time for flower beds and vegetable gardens, and the French Hill Little Free Library in Marlborough wants to help.

“Below the adult little free library is a red barn. In the barn is an assortment of seeds anyone can take if they intend to plant,” said library steward Glenn Skinner. “If they have leftover seeds, they can add them to the exchange for someone else to use.”

Skinner said last year about 100 packages of seeds went into the community and this year has already seen a fair amount of activity.

The seed exchange offers an assortment of vegetable, flower and herbs ready to be planted with some seed starter pods as well. Anyone with leftover seeds willing to share can tape the package and place it in the barn for the next visitor.

The French Hill Little Free Library has been around since 2017 and began offering the seed exchange last spring. The Little Free Library provides a changing selection of free books for children and adults. They also offer books in Portuguese and Spanish and crossword puzzles.

The French Hill location is one of two Little Free Libraries in Marlborough and part of the Little Free Library movement which has many chartered locations around the world including the Metrowest area.

The French Hill Little Free Library is located at 207 Broad St. in Marlborough. Locations of other Free Little Libraries can be found at littlefreelibrary.org/ourmap.
