James W. O’BrienHudson – James “Jamie” W. O’Brien, 67, a longtime Hudson resident, passed away peacefully April 25, 2019 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He leaves his beloved companion of 21 years, Jennifer S. Loura.

Jamie was born May 2, 1951 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, a son of the late John J. and Marjorie H. (Hardy) O’Brien. He spent the first half of his childhood in Glasgow and later immigrated in 1960 with his family to Hudson. Jamie graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 1969. He had a long and successful career working for the Town of Hudson DPW, eventually retiring as the General Foreman.

Growing up Jamie was a standout athlete. True to his Canadian roots, he was an excellent hockey player and also enjoyed playing football. He was an avid New England Patriots fan as well. Jamie loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He was a past member of the Hudson Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 643.

Jamie was also survived by his two sons, Jamie C. O’Brien and Michael D. O’Brien and his wife Melanie, all of Marlborough; a sister, Pamela S. O’Brien and her companion Donald Conway of Clinton; four grandchildren, Jaime, Sarah, Owen and Meghan O’Brien; and a niece, Ami Crawford and her husband Jemel of Hudson.

Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside committal service Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m., at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.

Jamie’s family requests that flowers be omitted, and donations be made via www.tighehamilton.com on his memorial page to help pay his funeral expenses.
