Westborough – The public is invited as the Westborough Veterans Advisory Board honors Denzil Drewry at its Veteran of the Year in a ceremony to be held Tuesday, May 7, at 5 p.m., in Memorial Hall, Westborough Town Hall, 34 West Main St.

Drewry is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with the Green Berets in the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart for wounds suffered during combat and a Bronze Star for valor. After returning he married his wife, Lorraine, with whom he has two children, Scott and Jamie. He had a long career in the insurance industry, retiring as vice president of national sales for State Mutual.

In addition to coaching Little League baseball and Youth Basketball, he was very involved with the town’s VFW and American Legion. He served the community by serving six terms on the Board of Selectmen, was a member of the Rotary Club, worked on multiple Memorial committees that were responsible for the Vietnam Memorial and the War on Terrorism Memorial and did a hitch as President of Chapter 54 of Massachusetts Special Forces Association. He also served as a special liaison to veterans during Sen. Scott’s Brown’s term.

Drewry still supports veterans to this day, as the chief financial officer for Fishing with Warriors, a not‐for‐profit, volunteer-run organization that helps veterans experience high level sporting events and activities at no cost them. For more information visit www.fishingwithwarriors.us.
