James Sullivan Jr.Marlborough – James “Jay” Paul Sullivan Jr., 70, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully at home April 30, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a period of declining health.

Jay was born Sept. 25, 1948 in Boston, a son of the late James P. and Jane A. (Mulloney) Sullivan. He was raised in Newton, where he graduated from high school and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston State College. He later moved to Marlborough, where he has resided for the past 35 years.

Jay had a long and successful career as a field service engineer for Digital, before he eventually retired.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time at his camp in Island Pond, Vt. He loved almost anything with a motor, a skilled mechanic, he had several motorcycles and snowmobiles, which he enjoyed riding. He was a longtime member of the American Legion in Vermont, the Hudson-Concord Elks and the Marlboro Fish and Game Association. He was also a talented pool player and was part of team in Worcester which earned him many trophies over the years.

Jay is survived by his beloved sisters, J. Lee Russell and her husband David of Marshfield and Gail A. Curtin and her husband Neal of Boston; his nephews, Matthew J. Russell and his fiancé Elizabeth Palumbo and Neal Curtin Jr.; and his niece, Meghan L. Russell. He also leaves behind many close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours Sunday, May 5, from 2-4 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial will be private at a later date.
