Vote for Rutan for re-election to Northborough Board of SelectmenTo the Editor:

I ask Northborough voters to please join me in voting to re-elect Leslie Rutan to the Board of Selectmen. Throughout her 28-year residency, Leslie has been a tireless contributor to the community, first as a volunteer for various town and school efforts, and subsequently in elected positions on the School Committee and Board of Selectmen. During her tenure on the Board, the town has seen excellent financial stability and superior management practices, while completing major building construction projects that serve the broad needs of the community: the Gale Library renovation; the new Senior Center; and the Lincoln Street School renovation, for which she chaired the Building Committee. She continues to maintain close ties to the schools as the Board’s liaison to the School Committees and by serving on School Councils.

Leslie is ever mindful of the human element of her work, serving as an accessible and receptive listener, frequently reporting on local events, celebrating individual and group achievements by members of the community, and acknowledging the important work of our Public Safety and Public Works personnel. Her track record of public service and experience will be of continuing benefit to the town. With two challengers in this election, it is important not to take anything for granted. I urge all citizens to vote on Tuesday May 14 at Melican Middle School, and to support Leslie Rutan for the Northborough Board of Selectmen.
