Vincent Messina Jr.Shrewsbury – Vincent Messina Jr., 81, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully May 10, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.

Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Luby) Messina, and their children, Lori Beauregard and her husband Craig of Wells, Maine and David Messina and his wife Katie of Holden. Vincent also leaves his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Madison and Emily, and a great-granddaughter, Stella Mae. Vincent is survived by his brother, Richard Messina and Janice Babbitt.

Vincent was born in Worcester, son of the late Vincent and Antoinette (Perna) Messina and had lived in Shrewsbury most of his life. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for several years. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, and Wentworth Institute in 1958 where he earned his degree in Steam and Diesel Engineering. Vincent worked in sales in the petroleum industry for many years before he retired.

Vincent served on the Shrewsbury Board of Appeals and the Planning Board.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising honeybees. He also had a small frame shop that he operated for many years. Vincent was also the co-owner of a pacer racehorse named “Shadydale Sailor.” He restored a 1934 Ford Pick-up which he drove several times in the Columbus Day Parade.

Vincent enjoyed cooking, his trips to Italy with Marilyn, and his early morning coffee at the In-House Coffee on Shrewsbury Street with “The Guys.” He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Vincent’s funeral service will be held Thursday, May 16, at 11:30 a.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 9:30 a.m. up to the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
