Mary F. MercerBedford – Mary F. (Powers) Mercer, of Bedford, formerly of Marlborough and Northborough, passed away May 12, 2019 at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington. She was 88 years old.

Mary was born in Jamaica Plain, daughter to the late John and Doris (Stanton) Powers. She was raised in Roxbury and graduated Timulty High School, class of 1948.

For most of her career she worked as a medical billing collections specialist at Hahnemann Hospital, and Framingham Union Hospital and Glass Rock Home Health Care.

Mary was known for her quick wit, big heart, and tireless enthusiasm. She saw only the good in everyone and her sparkling personality touched everyone who met her, resulting in many lifelong friendships.

Mary loved her family and was passionate about animals. She enjoyed gardening, watching old movies, and rooting for her beloved Boston sports teams. Mary also had a pitch-perfect singing voice and loved writing poems.

Mary is survived by her four children, Debra Pierce and her husband David of Auburn, Sandra Thomas of Higganum, Conn., John Mercer of Marlborough, and Heidi Trockman and her husband Jeffrey of Bedford; two granddaughters, Tara Ogle and her husband James and Alexzandra Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Max Ogle; a brother, John Powers of Norwell; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Mercer, and her sisters, Judy Lopez and Edith Wilkinson.

Mary’s funeral and time of remembrance was held May 17 at Hays Funeral Home of Northborough, followed by burial at Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough.
