Northborough – The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board are seeking interested residents to fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of a Planning Board member. Pursuant to the Town Charter, Section 3-11, the vacancy shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen.

The five-member elected Planning Board and town planner are responsible for ensuring that the development of land in Northborough meets the criteria set forth in state and local land use regulations. The process involves the review of subdivisions, site plans, special permits, and scenic roads. The Planning Board places a high priority on balancing the growth of residential development while encouraging the expansion of the industrial and commercial tax base. The board seeks to encourage industrial and commercial development in a manner which maintains the existing character of the town; preserves its residential neighborhoods; and protects its natural resources.

Interested residents are invited to submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Selectmen’s Office, 63 Main St., Northborough, MA 01532 or [email protected] by Wednesday, June 12. Interviews will be conducted, and an appointment will be made in a joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and Planning Board Monday, June 17. The appointment term shall be until the next regular town election Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
