Shrewsbury wins Division 1 championship

Worcester – Shrewsbury High School won the MIAA Central Division 1 baseball championship, defeating St. Peter-Marion 4-3 in a game played June 15 at Worcester’s Tivnan Field.

Shrewsbury scored all four of their runs in the third inning, with just two hits, but helped by three walks and three errors.  Starting pitcher John West struck out six over five innings.

Shrewsbury advances to the state semifinals where they will face East Longmeadow at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at Tivnan Field.
