Shrewsbury – On June 12, the Shrewsbury Farmers Market opened for its sixth season. This is their third located at the Shrewsbury Senior Center, 98 Maple Ave. The weather was absolutely perfect for the occasion.
Foot traffic was steady on opening day with at least a dozen vendors on hand offering fresh produce, organic meats, baked goods, jams and jellies and homemade goat milk soap, to name a few. The market also featured handcrafted alpaca products and organic dog treats.
Melisa Hollenback, founder of the market, introduced Whitney Deciccio from Abundance Family Farms as the new manager of the farmers market and student intern Jake Missall.
Hollenback shared that vendors will be added as the season progresses. Some produce is late this year because of the rainy spring weather. She was also excited to reveal new vendors such as Abundance Family Farm and Oxford Farms Meats which is certified organic.
The Shrewsbury Farmers Market is open Wednesdays through Sept. 25 from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit http://shrewsburyfarmersmarket.com.
