Northborough/Southborough – A five-week cross country running series of short races through the fields and trails of Algonquin Regional High School will begin Wednesday, July 17. These races are open to anyone interested, regardless of age, ability, or town of residence. Races will be held Wednesday nights through Aug. 14. The schedule of races is as follows: July 17, standard race, 5 km; July 24, age-graded race, 5km; July 31, short race, 3km; Aug. 7, predicted time race, 5km; Aug 14, two-person, four-mile relay; Aug. 21, make-up rain date.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the concessions stand by the JV Baseball field. Races will start at 6:30 p.m. In case of heavy rain, thunderstorm, or other inclement weather, races will be postponed or cancelled. Postponement notice will be posted to THawkDistanceProject.com by 5 p.m. Due to safety reasons, no headphones, dogs, or baby strollers will be allowed in the races. Prize t-shirts will be awarded to top males, females and age groups. The fee is $5 per race; exact cash only.
