Marlborough – Lindsay Castro, a school adjustment counselor at the Francis J. Kane Elementary School, was selected last month as Marlborough’s Teacher of the Year for 2019. The honor is bestowed annually by Marlborough’s United Brethren Lodge of Freemasons. The city’s school superintendent selects finalists from nominations submitted by teachers and staff across the school system, and the Masons then conduct interviews to choose the winner. Criteria includes: commitment to continuing education and improved performance; desire to help students succeed; involvement with students beyond regular school day activities; on the job performance; and community involvement.
