Shrewsbury – The 2019 Shrewsbury Garden Club Scholarship recipients represent the promise for future sustainability and preservation. Through fundraising, the Garden Club was able to award two $1000 scholarships. Students and Shrewsbury residents studying or pursuing a career in horticulture, landscaping, environmental studies or related fields are eligible for a scholarship.
Katherine Quinlivan is a senior at St. Mark’s School in Southborough. Katherine helped host a sustainability conference that has led to her pursuit of environmental studies in college this fall.
Jacob Yankee is a student at UMass Amherst, Commonwealth Honors College, working on his bachelor of science degree in natural resources conservation. His career goal is to work for a conservation land trust helping to save land from development and maintain it for natural conservation.
