Shrewsbury – On June 5, Harianto Wong, vice president of technology development of Allegro MicroSystems, presented a check in the amount of $20,000 to the Shrewsbury High School Robotics Team 467. The gift was made to honor the work of Rich Cooper, longtime team mentor and recently retired Allegro engineer.
“This robotics team has been a passion of Rich Cooper.” Wong stated. “I came to respect [his] technical skill, his expertise and his contributions to Allegro which are enormous.”
Wong added that he has personally been involved with a robotics team through his daughter’s school, so he knows how much it helps students in their daily life from program management to projects to finance and technology.
“I am quite excited that we can do something for the robotics team,” Wong added.
“It makes me happy,” Cooper said. “I don’t know what else to say.”
Allegro has been a longtime sponsor of the Robotics team, according to coordinator Carl McInally.
The donation will be used to buy a new lathe and a new mill.
“We are incredibly grateful for their sponsorship over the years and look forward to more in the future,” McInally said.
