Boston – State Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow) recently welcomed the Hudson Hawks High School softball team to the Statehouse to recognize their historic season clinching the state championship title. The team’s visit to Beacon Hill began with a community send-off in Hudson, where local firefighters and police escorted the Hawks on their way out of town. At the Statehouse Hogan honored the team with a presentation of congratulatory citations and individually recognized each player in the House chamber. The day was capped off with a pizza party – and a rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” sung by the team beneath the golden dome.

“The visit to the State House was simply the icing on the cake for us. What an incredible honor for these girls and their families to be recognized and acknowledged by Rep. Hogan and her staff in such a grand way,” said Hudson High School Director of Athletics Jessica Winders.  “Having the Hudson police and fire escort us out of town made the whole day incredible special and one the team will not forget.”

The Hawks won the Division 2 State Championship at Worcester State University in June with a 4-1 win over Gloucester, finishing their season with a 22-3 record.
