Ronald J. ChaseShrewsbury – Ronald “Ron” James Chase, 70, passed away in his sleep July 23, 2019 at Benchmark at Shrewsbury Crossings. Ron grew up in Dennis. He was the son of the late Alton Vernon Chase of Brockton and the late Roberta Marguerite (Oliver) Chase of Chatham.

Ron served in the United States Airforce from May 1968 to May 1972 and, upon his separation, lived with his family on the Cape. While a student at Dennis Yarmouth Regional Highschool, Ron became interested in printing, and when the opportunity came, he became an apprentice printer at the Cape Cod Times and worked there several years.  When he progressed to a journeyman printer, he moved to Long Island New York to work at Newsday. After nearly 20 years, he took early retirement and moved to Gainesville, Ga.

In April 2019, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, and he moved back to Massachusetts to live out the rest of his life near family. Ron died on his own terms much the way he lived his life.

Ron is survived by his son, Christopher and his wife Colleen and their son Derek of Boylston, Daniel of Shamrock, Texas, and his children the late DJ Ellis of Massachusetts, Chelsie Lynn Hope Sims of Shamrock, Texas, Jordan Riley Chase of Dalton, Samantha Nichole Chase of Kannapolis, N.C., and Rebecca Lynn Benton of Kannapolis, N.C. Ron is also survived by his brother, Ken Chase, formerly of Georgia and Massachusetts, and his former wife, Raymah Kupis of Shamrock, Texas. Ron leaves behind six great-grandchildren and several cousins.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be offered Tuesday, July 31, at 11 a.m., at Swan Lake Annex Cemetery in Dennis Port.
