National Garden Clubs announces local scholarship award winner

Shrewsbury – National Garden Clubs (NCG) has awarded a scholarship to Jacob Yankee of Shrewsbury, a student at the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, studying natural resources conservation with a concentration in policy.

Yankee was selected as one of 35 recipients of the organization’s 2018-2019 college scholarships.

The NGC scholarship program offers financial aid to students and promotes study in agriculture education, horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, botany, biology, plant pathology/science, forestry, agronomy, environmental concerns, economics, environmental conservation, city planning, wildlife science, habitat or forest/systems ecology, land management and/or other related or allied subjects. Applicants must be majoring in one of these fields of study. All scholarships are advanced one-year scholarships, which are available to junior, senior and graduate students.
