Shrewsbury – John P. “Jack” Brothers, 76, passed away Aug. 10, 2019 after fighting a long battle with a heart-related illness.
Jack was born in Worcester, a son of the late James and Ellen (Mulvaney) Brothers. Jack graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and served in the United States Army.
He spent the majority of his career in commercial real estate as an active partner in Progressive Realty. He worked diligently with family as an owner of Julio’s Enterprises in Westborough, Mass.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Phyllis N. (Colangelo) Brothers of Shrewsbury; his brother, Francis X. Brothers and wife Sandra of Worcester; his sister-in-law, Jane Brothers of Worcester; his in-laws, Ron and Johanna Maloney of Shrewsbury, Eugene and Dona Colangelo of Westborough, and Julio and Sue Colangelo of Land ‘o Lakes, Fla.; his loving daughter, Nicolette P. (Brothers) Kelley and husband Jeffrey of Shrewsbury; his grandchildren, Jacklynne and Zachary Kelley of Shrewsbury; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Thomas M. Brothers of Worcester.
Jack was an avid golfer, car enthusiast and enjoyed gardening. He loved talking politics to anyone who would listen. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Shrewsbury.
Jack sought the most pleasure when he was with his family, especially watching his grandson play football up to the college level and spending time with his granddaughter, his BFF. He was most proud of his family as he was an integral part in his daughter’s and grandchildren’s lives.
There will be a private service to celebrate his life.
