Shrewsbury – Seventeen-year-old Shrewsbury high school junior Nicos Evangelous graduated from the intensive Student Trooper learning program at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree July 15.

This intensive and demanding one-week program for approximately 100 students requires vigorous physical training as well as exposure to the job of the police officers and their training. Students are challenged with hands-on classroom experience on topics such as first aid, CPR, criminal law, internet safety, safe driving, leadership and much more.

The program also includes rigorous paramilitary training in which students are challenged physically and mentally, both individually in teams.

Nicos attended Hillside School in Marlborough for two years prior to high school with a vigorous and structured schedule of school, sports, and leadership development. He is also a lead camp counselor and skate instructor for Greg Carter European Hockey School and camps.

Nicos has interest in pursuing further law enforcement education after high school.
