Arts In Common: ‘Inspiring Creative Expression’ for 10th anniversary

Westborough – This year, the Westborough Cultural Council will be celebrating its 10th annual Arts In Common (AIC) festival Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Bay State Green, 1100 Union St., Westborough.

“Inspiring Creative Expression” is the theme for this year’s festival and will lay the foundation for future Arts In Common events, organizers said.

Over the years, this festival has seen it all – from torrential rain that drove the festival indoors to picture perfect days. Maureen Johnson, AIC co-chair, has been involved since its inception and has seen it grow and evolve every year.

“This year, at its 10th year milestone, it thrives as a festival beyond our borders, bringing in talents across Massachusetts,” she said.

“The AIC festival is very important to our community not only to support all forms of artistic and creative expression but to ensure current and future generations have an opportunity to awaken their creative passions in their life throughout their life,” said Michelle French,  a member of the AIC Committee and the owner of David French Music.
Festival patrons will have an opportunity to shop local art, as well as to make art.

Music, food and AIC merchandise are also adding an extra level of excitement this year. Professional musicians Worcester Jazz Orchestra, In The Nick of Time from North Hampton, and headliner 9Teen (awarded best local band by Worcester Magazine) will be taking the stage along with other local favorites.

Food trucks and vendors will be onsite in the tent section.

Limited edition AIC t-shirts, tote bags and beer pints, to fill at the “Hooch Hut,” featuring Start Line Brewing Co., will be in popular demand. Come early to get your gear knowing that every dollar you spend will help the Westborough Cultural Council raise money to bring more arts-based programming to Westborough.

The Westborough Cultural Council is so grateful to the many sponsors who supported Arts in Common throughout the years, and appreciates the new sponsors who have joined us for the 10th anniversary.
