Grafton – Donald R. Wood, 72, passed away at home, following an illness, Sept. 23, 2019.
He leaves his wife of 28 years, Ellie (Cardin) Wood; his children, Catherine Perreault, Donald Wood Jr., Kevin Wood and his wife Danielle, Paul Macjewski Jr., Lisa Navarro, Teddy Macjewski, Kelly Leuci and Sharon Jacques; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his former wife, Linda Stevens; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard Sargent, Judith Gardula, Eugene Wood and his twin Douglas Wood.
Donald was born Feb. 21, 1947 in Worcester, son of the late Shirley (Sargent) and Harry Wood. He was originally from Shrewsbury and lived in Sutton for many years, but resided in Grafton at the end of his life.
He was a truck driver for over 20 years at the Worcester Sand and Gravel and Belsito Trucking Co. For many years, he owned and operated his own taxicab like his twin brother, Douglas, for the Independent Taxi Cab Co. (#36 & #98), operating in the Worcester area.
Away from work Donald prized family above all else and could easily be found at the table playing cribbage with anyone willing to challenge him. He loved playing cards like cribbage and poker, camping, horseshoes, watching NASCAR, and going out to breakfast with his children.
Donald’s gentle nature made him a natural magnet for children and the family’s cats. As an avid cat lover his entire life, it was not unusual to see him with one in his lap at any given time.
