Westborough – A Mindfulness Drop-In Course will held on Tuesdays at the Westborough Public Library from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. The course will offer opportunities for beginners and experienced meditators to learn about mindfulness and deepen their practice. Each class will include instruction, extended practice, and time for discussion. Topics will include: foundational practices such as breath meditation, body scan, and standing meditation; kindness, compassion, and forgiveness practices; contemplations for working with physical and emotional pain; and mindful eating exercises. Attendance at all sessions is not required, but momentum will build from week to week. There is no registration; each session will be limited to the first 30 participants

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the library will host an Introduction to Indian Classical Music at 6:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn and engage during this 90-minute workshop on Indian classical music. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of Indian classical music and the basics of Indian music appreciation. Participants do not need any prior musical background. Tour Westborough and learn about British influences on its architecture during a walking tour Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. starting at the library’s front steps.

Join R. Christopher Noonan and Luanne Crosby as they talk (and sing!) about the interplay and influences of the British Empire’s architectural traditions on Westborough’s buildings, neighborhoods, and even cemetery design. This tour is the latest in a series of highly popular architecture tours of Westborough given by the duo and will be the only one held in the upcoming year.

The tour is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Anthony Vaver, local history librarian, at [email protected].

The Introduction to Indian Classical Music and walking tour are co-sponsored by the Westborough Center for History and Culture as part of its Westborough History Connections series. More information about the series can be found at www.westboroughcenter.org.

The library will present “Psychology of Money” Monday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required at https://westborough.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/donna-booking-10/.

Your perceptions, biases and emotions about money can affect the financial decisions you make. Understanding the complex dynamics of your relationship with wealth and developing strategies for making objective decisions can help you manage your wealth more wisely.

The Westborough Public Library is located at 55 West Main St. For more information about any of the above programs, call the library at 508-366-3050.
